The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics were treating seven people with life-threatening injuries and 20 with minor injuries after the crash at the Wilson Creek rest area on the Bruce Highway in Gumloo just after 11am.
Emergency services were called to the scene following reports that the vehicles had collided.
“Two rescue helicopters were also dispatched to the scene,” Ambulance Service Queensland said in a statement.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the Bruce Highway was closed in both directions at Gumloo, north of Bowen.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect long delays.
