Singer charged with driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons in New York State

Timberlake was released from custody later Tuesday morning (early Wednesday AEST) after being formally charged in Sag Harbour, on the east end of Long Island.
He was charged with one count and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 26, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said.
Timberlake’s attorney and representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.
Sag Harbor is a coastal village in the Hamptons, about 100 miles from New York. In the summer, it’s a hot spot for wealthy visitors.
Young Timberlake was Disney’s Mouseketeer, where his co-stars included future girlfriend Britney Spears.
He rose to fame in the popular boy band NSYNC and began a solo recording career in 2002.
As an actor, Timberlake has gained recognition in films including Social network and Friends with benefits.
Winner of 10 Grammy Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards.
Timberlake made headlines last year when Spears released her memoir, The woman in me.
In March, he released his first new album in six years, Nostalgic Everything I thought it wasa return to his familiar future funk sound.
Timberlake has two upcoming shows in Chicago on Friday and Saturday, then is scheduled to hit New York’s Madison Square Garden next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
