A mother and her baby were kidnapped from a shopping center in Melbourne southeast and forced into a terrifying drive.
The woman was getting out of her Suzuki S Cross in the car park of the Stud Park Shopping Center supermarket in Rowville last Friday at 6pm when she was approached by a man.
He threatened her with a knife and forced her into the driver’s seat of her car.
Her baby was still in the back seat and the man got in next to the child.
The offender forced the woman to drive to electrical shops on the South Gippsland Hwy in Cranbourne and on Frankston Dandenong Rd in Dandenong, where he made her buy several Apple MacBooks.
While she went into the shops, the man stayed in the car with her child.
After leaving the last shop in Dandenong, the man forced the woman into the back seat and she drove the car to Robert Booth Reserve.
There he got out and ran north on the Dandenong Creek Trail carrying four MacBooks just after 8pm.
The woman and her child were not injured in the incident.
The offender is described by police as being of Asian appearance and aged between 20 and 35.
At the time, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a green fluorescent vest and gray pants with black shoes and was carrying the computers in their cases.
On Friday, police released CCTV images of a man they believed could help with their inquiries and urged anyone with information to contact them.
